Placement First, Hardware Second
Why the cheapest sensor in the right place beats an expensive one in the wrong place.
Most failed monitoring deployments are placement failures, not hardware failures. A sensor at the ceiling above a water heater will miss the puddle forming at floor level for days.
Walk the property with gravity in mind: where does water collect, where do pipes enter, which rooms are unattended longest? Those are the points. Then choose devices that fit those points.
A placement plan costs little and prevents the most common disappointment: a system that was installed everywhere except where the water went.
